What is Tadalafil?
Tadalafil is a phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor like Sildenafil. This class of drugs treats erectile dysfunction by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme. This enzymatic action constricts the blood vessel’s size which can reduce blood flow. This class of drugs inhibits enzymatic action which means that the blood vessels remain dilated and improve blood flow. In the case of erectile dysfunction, this improves blood flow to the penis for a better erection.
What Dosage is right for me?
In general, the recommended dose is 10 mg. In some patients, a 10mg tablet may not be strong enough to produce beneficial effects, if this is the case then the 20mg might be more suitable. Tadalafil, 10 mg and 20 mg are intended for use prior to anticipated sexual activity and it is not recommended for continuous daily use.
Some patients who anticipate frequent sexual activity, more than twice a week may be prescribed a smaller dosage of 5mg once day. However, this will be based on patient choice and the physician’s judgement. In these patients, the recommended dose is 5 mg taken once a day at approximately the same time of day.
