What is Sildenafil?
Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction. This functions by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme which is used to reduce the lumen size of blood vessels. Sildenafil inhibits enzymatic action allowing the blood vessels to remain dilated and improve blood flow. In the case of erectile dysfunction, this improves blood flow to the penis for a better erection.
What dosage of Sildenafil is right for me?
The recommended beginner’s dose is 50mg of Sildenafil. Based on efficacy and tolerability, the dose may be increased to 100mg or decreased to 25mg. The maximum recommended dose is 100 mg.
Take your recommended dosage approximately one hour before sexual activity. You may take Sildenafil after a meal or on an empty stomach. However, taking Sildenafil with food may delay the onset of the medication’s activity compared to the fasted state. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.
