Description
What is Lansoprazole?
Lansoprazole is a class of medicines call a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It is prescribed to patients with indigestion as result of acid reflux including a disorder called Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and stomach ulcers. PPIs work by reducing the amount of acid released into the stomach. Acid is corrosive, if part of the gastrointestinal tract is compromised it can prevent healing. Using PPIs in patients with acid reflux has been shown to reduce common symptoms of acid reflux such as heartburn.
