What is Fluticasone?
Fluticasone is a form of corticosteroid used in the prevention and treatment of allergic rhinitis and allergies. Corticosteroids are normal within the body, but when doses exceed your body’s usual levels then corticosteroids act as an anti-inflammatory suppressing inflammation around the body. Inflammation is the cause of allergenic symptoms such as a blocked and runny nose.
How do I know which dosage is right for me?
There are 2 strengths and dosage length available, so how do you know what is right for you? Fluticasone is not a medication that you use all the time. Instead, you are recommended to use the spray at the onset of symptoms. Once your symptoms are under control you are recommended to reduce your use of the nasal spray. If you’re not sure when to decrease this use, or by how much, then ask a pharmacist for advice.
If your symptoms get worse after reducing your dose, you may want to increase it again.
If you have Fluticasone nasal spray or nasal drops on prescription, your doctor will tell you how often to use it and when to change your dose.
